I Feel Tired after Sleeping.. Is Something Wrong with Me?

Sleeping is a form of resting. We expect to feel refreshed and energized when we woke up. When we have to drag ourselves out of bed, still to be tired for the rest of the day.. We question: why is sleeping is not enough? Is there any other form of rest?

Sleeping gives rest only to our physical body. Our internal organs are also recovering during this time. This also includes our brain, which helps us to think better. When our body recovered, theoretically, we’ll feel better. But when we don’t, what to do?

Sleep is not Always the Answer

We all want to rush to our bed when we’re tired. But tiredness is not always physical. It can be emotional sometimes. And it’s hard to tell the difference when we are already emotionally and physically drained.

But in this situation, sleeping alone is not enough. We may recover physically, but we are still carrying the emotional burden from yesterday. Oftentimes, sleeping makes us forget a lot of things. But the emotion can still hang around we don’t do something about it today.

We sleep better when we relax and calm. It’s hard to quite down a busy mind and force it to sleep.

It’s like plugging off the power supply when you desktop is shutting down. A lot of programs are still running and might not have saved completely. The next time we turn it on, it’ll take some time for it to recover all the loss data.

Same with computer, our mind needs some time to switch gear into “resting” mode. And it’s a wonderful process that we don’t need to rest. Why put stress on your body when you want it to rest?

We may not like what we will be doing today. But, this kind of thoughts can easily depleted all of our energy early in the morning. We feel tired already before getting out of bed. We say that we lack of energy, but we actually run out of the motivation to be energetic.

The solution? Do something that makes us excited to face the day. We don’t need to change our entire routines, but just try to fit one activity that we really like in our day. Maybe a 10 minutes walk in the park this evening? Sounds good! The excitement will be transferred into the energy that keeps us throughout the day.

Conclusion

Tiredness can be caused by so many things, so sleep is not always the answer. Sometimes, boredom and depression can drain our energy that we don’t have any strength to go through the day. But there is no need to punish yourself for feeling this way. Instead, focusing on what can energized you throughout the day.
